Privacy Policy

PoolLevels keeps your pool data on your phone. There is no account to create, no sign in, no advertising and no tracking across other apps. From version 1.0.1 the app sends anonymous usage counts so we can see which features are used. What follows is the detail, including the two services the app talks to.

What stays on your device

Everything you put into the app is stored locally on your phone and is not sent to us:

• Your pool profile. Volume in gallons, surface type, sanitizer type and water temperature.
• Your test readings and their history. pH, total alkalinity, calcium hardness, cyanuric acid, chlorine and salt, with the date you tested.
• Strip photos and the colours read from them. Photographs you take or choose are processed on the device. They are not uploaded.

We have no server that receives your readings, which also means we cannot recover them if you lose your phone, and we cannot delete them on your behalf. Deleting the app removes all of it.

Anonymous usage counts

From version 1.0.1 the app sends PostHog, our analytics provider, a record of app opens and which screens are used, tied to a random ID created when the app is installed.

• No name, email address, pool reading, photo or location is included. We switched off PostHog's lookup of a city from your network address.
• The counts are not linked to you and are not used for advertising or tracking.
• PostHog's own policy: posthog.com/privacy.

Camera and photo library

The app asks for camera access to photograph a test strip, and for photo library access if you choose an existing picture instead. Both are used only for that, only when you start it, and the image never leaves the device. You can decline either and still use the app by typing your readings.

Subscriptions

PoolLevels Pro is sold through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Subscription status is managed by RevenueCat, which acts as our processor for entitlements.

• RevenueCat assigns an anonymous identifier. We do not give it your name, email address or any reading from your pool, because the app never asks us for them.
• It receives purchase and receipt information from Apple or Google, plus basic device and app version details, in order to tell the app whether your subscription is active.
• Apple or Google handles the payment itself. We never see your card details.
• RevenueCat's own policy: revenuecat.com/privacy.

What we do not do

• No advertising and no advertising identifier. The app does not ask to track you.
• No crash reporting SDK, and no usage data beyond the anonymous counts above.
• No selling or sharing of personal information, as those terms are used in United States state privacy laws. There is nothing to sell.
• No profiles, no marketing emails, no data brokers.

This website

poollevels.com is a set of static pages served from Cloudflare. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Cloudflare processes request data such as IP address in order to serve and protect the site, as any web host must. Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives the request needed to deliver them.

Children

PoolLevels is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. The only thing the app sends us is the anonymous usage counts described above.

Your rights

Rights to access, correct, delete or port personal data apply to data a company holds. The only data we hold from the app is the anonymous usage counts, which are not linked to you. Everything else is satisfied directly on your device: the data is yours, visible in the app, and removed when you delete it. If you believe we hold something about you, write to us and we will tell you exactly what we have.

Changes

If the app ever starts collecting something, this page will say so before that version ships, and the date at the top will change. We will not quietly broaden it.
